And any other living aspect of the rainforest (plants, animals, bugs, etc.)
Threats to the ecosystem:
Humans are a huge threat to the ecosystem. Logging has wiped out huge tracts of land throughout the rainforest. Over the past few years, in Borneo and Sumatra, the amount of timber harvesting and oil plantations have increased because of our need for palm oil: a very important biofuel. Unfortunately for the Orangutans (and other creatures living here), this is damaging their home.
Importance of the ecosystem:
These rain forests are very biodiverse. There are hundreds of different species who populate the Borneo and Sumatra rain forests. There is also lots of greenery and plants in these areas. Rain forests provide a diverse environment for the world. Also, although harmful to the environment, the wood provided from logging is very useful to humans.

Conservation Plan:
To conserve the Southeast Asian rainforests, people should stop cutting down trees. To do this, people can start recycling paper more often. People should also stop illegal animal training. To do this, I think there should be forest rangers surveying the area and making sure that nothing illegal is happening. Another way to conserve the rainforests I think that killing endangered animals should be stopped. To do this, I think that the Orangutans and other animals should be kept in a safe home so no one can be able to kill them. Also, oil palm plantations should stop to help conserve the rainforests. I think that we should make the plantations illegal and have people watching the area to make sure no oil palm is being taken. Last, I think we should stop timber harvesting. A way to do this is to have rangers surveying the area. Overall, there are a lot of ways to conserve the rainforests, so people should start helping conserve it.
